Picture of REDIAUTO SPORT HAND CONTROLS --- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 10/2009) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Rediauto Sport Hand Controls are a driving control system designed for use by individuals with lower extremity disabilities or spinal cord injury. Designed primarily for use in sports cars and trucks, these hand controls can be used to perform all the driving functions of a car, including starting, accelerating, shifting, and braking. The hand controls are mounted on and just below the steering wheel. The hand control system consists of an accelerator ring, a hand brake, and a clutch control. The system is engineered to work together, enabling the car to be operated in the same manner as a car with a manual transmission (stick shift). A micro switch on the brake pedal senses panic stops. When this occurs, it automatically depresses the clutch and cuts out the accelerator, eliminating stalls.
