RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Pronto! is a braille notetaker and voice output electronic organizer designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. It has an 18-cell braille display with cursor routing keys located left and right of the display; alternatively a mini-joystick can be used. Notetaking input is through an eight-key braille keyboard. Functions include a notebook, standard and scientific calculator, calendar with diary, address and phone book, temperature, altitude and compass information, voice recording, and an MP3-Player. The device has 64 megabytes (MB) random access memory (RAM) and 32 MB Flash memory, which can be extended with CF-memory cards. It comes with a carrying case and can be carried using a shoulder strap or by mounting it on the user's belt. All functions can be operating while the device is inside its carrying case. The device can support speech output for two different languages. It has a built-in speaker and comes with an ear phone plug. Data can be transferred from a personal computer (PC) or reading machines such as POET, ScannaR, or Ovation (see separate entries). The organizer supports GSM cell phones (reading and writing SMS). Interfaces include Compact Flash Slot Type II, USB (Slave), Infrared (IRDA), BT (Bluetooth), serial, PS2, and Phone.
