(Verified 6/2005) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Nokia Communicator, models 9210, 9210i, and 9290, is a cell phone and personal data assistant (PDA) designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. When used together with Talks software from Brand & Groeber Communications GbR (see separate entry), this PDA functions as a voice output electronic organizer. Users can write and read text messages and e-mail; send fax messages; surf the Internet; manage contact information; call telephone numbers from the phone book; make and retrieve entries from the appointment calendar; and customize cell phone settings. The speaking software is available in English (US and British), German, French, Italian, and Finnish. POWER: Uses lithium ion battery. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): The 9290 is 6.22 x 1.06 x 2.20 inches. WEIGHT: 9290 weighs 8.6 ounces.
