(Verified 09/2008) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Mobile Phone Organizer, model MPO 5500, is a voice output electronic organizer and notetaker designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. It has the features of a cellular phone and PDA (personal digital assistant), with additional features for blind and visually impaired users, including a 20-cell braille display, an eight-dot braille keyboard, a speech synthesizer, and ALVA's Smart-Control user interface. It includes a tri-band GSM cellular phone with antenna, notetaker functions, SMS text messaging, an agenda planner, an alarm, and a calculator. Speech output is in English (US and UK), French, German, and Dutch. The casing has a scratch-resistant finish. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 1.7 x 9.4 x 4.1 inches. WEIGHT: 1 pound, 9 ounces. COLOR: Purple.

Notes: The manufacturer states that additional product features will be released as optional software upgrades in phases beginning in the third quarter of 2003, including e-mail, an Internet browser, GPS (Global Positioning System), a Daisy reader, and an MP3 player.
