Prisma TS Acoustic Pedestrian Signals are audible pedestrian signals designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. These audible pedestrian signals have ten distinct sounds that can be used to indicate different walking directions. The sounds are produced by a speaker and include a variety of digitally recorded clicks, knocks, and beeps. The volume is automatically adjusted to the ambient noise level, within a range of 55 to 83 decibels. On the top of the housing of the units is an embossed arrow that indicates the walking direction. On models TS-907 and TS-908 this arrow vibrates to provide vibro-tactile information. Models TS-903 and TS-907 have an electronic front panel on which the entire front panel area functions as a pushbutton for easier operation. A yellow light emitting diode (LED) indicator and a beep provide users with confirmation after they press the button. On all models, additional information is supplied by braille symbols on the side of the housing. These symbols help the user to visualize the street crossing area. For example, the symbols can show bicycle paths, car lanes, shelters, and tram lines, and their relative positions. The housing is made of strengthened anodized aluminum. POWER: Uses 230 volts alternating current (AC); versions using 110 volts AC are available on request. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 270 x 125 x 112 millimeters. WEIGHT: 5.7 pounds (2.9 kilograms).
