Picture of VIBRAWALK (MODELS ELA452, ELA453, & ELA505) VibraWalk is a vibrating pedestrian signal designed for use by individuals who are deaf blind. It is designed to improve crosswalk safety for pedestrians who are deaf blind by providing an easily felt arrow that vibrates during the walk cycle. It produces a strong 80 Hertz (Hz) vibration that is easily felt when touched, even by someone wearing a glove. An adjustable raised arrow points pedestrians in the right direction to cross. It is mounted on the walk signal pole. Any audible pedestrian signal (APS) head can be equipped with this product. It has no sharp edges and is easily distinguished from typical WALK buttons. It carries no electrical current that can be felt. The unit is waterproof and is operational in temperatures from minus 34 to 70 degrees centigrade. The vibrating faceplate assembly is affixed to the stainless steel 14-gauge housing with tamper-proof bolts. Available models include Vibrating Arrow (no. ELA452), Vibrating Arrow with Speaker (no. ELA453), and Vibrating Arrow with Speaker and Push Button (no. ELA505). Model ELA452 is driven by an isolated transducer. It has an anodized aluminum faceplate assembly affixed to its housing with tamper-proof stainless steel bolts. Its arrow is rotated before installation to point in correct direction. It is recommended for intersections already equipped with APS units. Model ELA453 adds to the features of ELA452 a built-in speaker that can play Walk, DonÆt Walk, and/or Pole Locator sounds and optional Walk / Don't Walk sounds from an APS unit. The Pole Locator sound provides a low volume self-adjusting audible beacon to the push button on pole. This model is recommended for intersections where pushbuttons are used or pole access is challenging. Model ELA505 adds to the features of ELA453 a high visibility BumbleBee Pedestrian Button (see separate entry) made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). COLOR: The faceplate on model ELA452 is black.
