Picture of ACCESSIBLE PEDESTRIAN SYSTEM The Accessible Pedestrian System is an audible and vibrating pedestrian signal system designed to make street crossing safer for individuals who are blind, deaf, hard of hearing, or who have low vision. The system consists of a driver unit and a push button unit. The driver unit provides all the necessary electronics to drive an audio tactile transducer, located in the push button unit, which creates audible and tactile walk and don't walk signals. The audible output of the push button has three tones: a locating or don't walk tone that allows pedestrians to find the push button and also warns pedestrians not to cross, a transitional or walk tone, and a crossing tone. The locating or don't walk tone is 1000 Hertz (1000Hz) +/- 50Hz with a repetition rate of 0.55Hz +/- 0.05Hz; the transition or walk tone starts with a burst at 3500Hz +/- 500Hz and then decreases exponentially to 700Hz +/- 100Hz; and the crossing tone is 500Hz +/- 25Hz with a repetition rate or 8.5Hz +/- 0.5Hz. This audible pedestrian signal includes automatic gain control. A microphone constantly measures ambient noise and the control unit responds by adjusting the volume of the audible output for both the walk and don't walk tones. The push button pulsates simultaneously with the sounds to provide vibro-tactile information. The button unit features a tactile arrow that points in the direction of the crosswalk. The actuator button is made of solid stainless steel. OPTIONS: Light emitting diode (LED) indicator to signal to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing that they have placed a call to the controller for a walk cycle. DIMENSIONS: The acutating button is 50 millimeters in diameter.

Notes: The manufacturer states that the push button on this product is in compliance with Singapore LTA Specification clause II.2.f. ** The manufacturer states that it has been authorised to use the C-Tick Mark, a compliance label for electronic equipment from the Australian Communication Authority (ACA).
