(Verified 10/2009) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Book Port, model 1-07440-00, is a voice output electronic book reader designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This portable device reads computer text, web content, and digital audio books. Electronic files are read with synthetic speech and digital talking books are read with recorded human speech. Users can take audio notes on the material they read. Material is transferred to the device from a PC through the included software and cable, and the device can then be disconnected and taken anywhere. The device has a built-in keypad, and comes with an earphone/bud jack, microphone, earbuds, one CompactFlash card, USB cable for connecting to a PC, and a CD-ROM with Book Port software, an electronic manual, and over 1700 e-books. POWER: Uses two double-A batteries (included). COMPATIBILITY: Software is for use on IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Software requires Pentium 166 megahertz (MHz) or faster processor; Windows ME or higher operating system; 64 megabytes (MB) of random access memory (RAM); 15 MB of hard disk space to install software; and CD-ROM drive. WARRANTY: 90 day limited warranty.
