---- PROTOTYPE ---- PURPOSE: To create more engaging, dynamic exhibits for museums science centers, zoos, and aquaria for individuals with visual impairments. The Accessible Aquarium project combines the fields of psychology, computing, music, and assistive technology to develop cutting-edge bio-tracking and behavior- analysis techniques to provide input for multimedia auditory displays, music, and sonifications (use of sound to convey information about data to the listener). The first adaptation is for use with aquariums. The Accessible Aquarium uses a camera with recognition software that tracks objects based on their shape and color. The software then links each movement to different instruments that change in pitch and tempo as the fish patrol the tank. Fish that move toward the surface have a higher pitch. The faster they move, the faster the tempo. TITLE: Accessible Aquarium. WEBSITE: Georgia Tech Center for Music Technology. REF: http://gtcmt.coa.gatech.edu/?p=634.
