Picture of PENFRIEND ACORN --- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 03/2009) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Penfriend Acorn is a word prediction and on-screen keyboard program designed for use by individuals with fine motor, upper extremity, and learning disabilities. This utility program works alongside a word processor (not included), and supplies the user with a list of word possibilities when the user has entered one or more letters. The user can then select one of these possible words by pressing a key. The program has a lexicon file which is added to or modified based on the user's own history of word use. The user can browse through all the words in the lexicon file, remove rarely used words and check all the recently added words for accuracy. The on-screen keyboard can be operated with a mouse, and it also supports Sticky Keys, which allows users who find it difficult to hold down Shift to get a capital letter (or any shifted key). COMPATIBILITY: For use with Acorn personal computers and consumer electronics products that use the RISC OS operating system. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: RISC OS operating system.
