(Verified 11/2006) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- CareGuard-USA is an emergency alert system with monitoring service designed for use by seniors and individuals with disabilities at risk for medical emergencies. This service utilizes fully duplex communication, enabling simultaneous two-way voice communication. The system includes a fully-programmed full-duplex base console and a watch- or pendant-style, waterproof emergency button. The transmitter has a 1,000 foot range. Activating the button on the pendant initiates two-way conversation with the monitoring center, which is staffed by licensed nurses, EMS, and police, fire, or security dispatchers. If the phone line is in use when the pendant is in use, the system will disconnect the call to contact the monitoring center. When contacted, the CareGuard operator will evaluate the situation to determine whether to call family, police, or emergency medical personnel. The operator remains in communication until assistance arrives. CareGuard also offers the ability for members to enter online all of their medical history, medication and information so when emergency personnel are dispatched, they will get the details on the client while on the way to assist them.
