The CloseBy Network is an emergency alert system with monitoring service and home emergency monitoring system designed for use by individuals with disabilities or seniors who are at risk for medical emergencies. The system includes activity monitoring and direct caregiver access to monitoring through the Internet. The system monitors daily activity through motion detectors strategically placed in areas such as the bathroom, meal preparation areas, entry way, and bedroom. For example, motion sensors may be located in a medicine cabinet to help the caregiver decide whether the senior has accessed medications. The sensors are connected wirelessly to customized personal computer that relays the data via the Internet to one or more relatives, caregivers or medical professionals. These care providers can view the activity recorded by the sensors on a web interface, or they can receive email or text message alerts. The CloseBy Network is expandable and configurable so that is can be customized to the specific needs of a variety of residences and floorplans. POWER: The customized computer requires standard, 120-volt alternating current (AC) outlets; the sensors require AA batteries. OPTIONS: Additional sensors are available for the doorbell, lights, water overflow; the system can also support video cameras.
