Picture of DISCOVERY DESKTOP --- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 9/2012) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Discovery Desktop is a simplified computer desktop program designed for use by individuals with cognitive disabilities. This software covers the traditional Windows desktop with a simplified, uncluttered screen that can be customized to suit the user's needs. In a classroom or group setting, it provides a picture-based log-in screen so that multiple users can each have their own unique desktop on a single computer. This program masks the complexity of the traditional Windows desktop and allows the user to create custom, single-click picture buttons for any application on the computer. It also "talks" to other applications to let them know who the current user is, so that individualized editions of those programs can be created to adapt the user interface to their individual needs.
