(Verified 03/2009) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Simply Speaking is a voice command and voice output program designed for use by individuals with learning disabilities. By combining voice recognition and text to speech capabilities, this program enables the user to input text into a computer by speaking it aloud. The program can also read text from any Windows or Web based program. The program talks as soon as it begins running. The user interface appears as a toolbar on top of the screen, with control buttons that can be clicked with a mouse. An onscreen avatar asks questions, responds to commands, and teaches lessons. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers. This program is compatible with most word processors, email clients, Internet browsers, and instant messenger programs, including Microsoft Word, Notepad, Lotus Notes, AOL, Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, Outlook, Eudora, TheBat, AIM, and MSN IM. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, 2003, or XP operating system; Intel Pentium 233 megaHertz (MHz) processor with MMX and 256K L2 cache; 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM; 300 MB of available hard disk space; 16-bit sound card; microphone input jack.
