-------- CUSTOMIZED ADAPTATION --------- PURPOSE: To provide a customized laptop computer tray for a student with disabilities. The adaptation mounts a laptop computer (with speech software) on a standard wheelchair tray so that the screen is in view while the computer is housed under the tray and the tray surface is left free. Hardware from a standard roll out "under the desk" keyboard shelf was modified to provide a platform for the laptop. Only the switch driving the software is exposed on the tray surface, preventing inadvertent hitting of keys. The screen can be folded down and the complete unit stored under the tray when not in use.
