Picture of KAPTEN PLUS The Kapten Plus is a voice input and output navigation system designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. The system uses GPS (global positioning satellite) to identify locations, speech synthesis to announce the location to the user, and voice recognition from Nuance to provide the user with a voice input interface to request information on the current location and to request directions. The Kapten Plus can provide audible directions to get to specific locations by foot, bicycle, or automobile, and it can facilitate pedestrian navigation by combining street navigation with city rail public transport. A track mode which allows the user to record and replay selected itineraries. The K-tag recording feature provides the ability to save selected addresses. The user can attach a voice memo to any K-tag, use the K-tags directory to start a navigation, or be notified when passing nearby a favorite places. The Kapten Plus also can be a voice controlled voice recorder, MP3 player and FM radio. The system comes includes a mini-speaker kit (with audio amplification and built-in battery); a necklace holder; a USB and synchronization cable and a quick starting guide. COMPATIBILITY: The Kapten Plus can be used with IBM PC or Apple Macintosh computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows XP and higher or Mac OS 10.5 and higher. POWER: Uses a rechargeable 750 mA battery that can be charged via a USB connection. DIMENSIONS (LxWxD): 74 x44 x 13 millimeters. WEIGHT: 60 grams. WARRANTY: One-year warranty.
