Braille Sense is a braille notetaker, refreshable braille display, and digital recorder designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. It has an 8-key braille input keyboard and a braille display with 32 braille cells and cursor keys. Other features include an MP3 player, voice recording, and a liquid crystal display (LCD) display for teaching braille to beginners (Korean version only). This device can be used for word processing, file management, writing and reading e-mail, and as a web browser and media player. Utilities include calendar, clock, and calculator functions. Files can be shared with a desktop computer through USB interfaces or with other notetakers through infrared communication. Sound output is through an internal stereo speaker or stereo headphone jack; voice recording uses an internal microphone or an external microphone jack. This unit has two USB and two CF slots, a serial port, and a parallel port. It uses the Windows CE.NET operating system with an Intel X-Scale (PXA255) central processor and 64 megabytes (MB) of Flash memory. The package comes with a carrying bag, manuals in print and braille, a USB cable, a serial cable, and earphones. OPTIONS: Compact flash card, USB stick memory, USB 3.5-inch FDD. POWER: Uses a lithium ion battery with back up battery installed. An alternating current (AC) adapter is included. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 1.1 to 1.9 (in the middle) x 6.1 x 10 inches. WEIGHT: 2.7 pounds.
