Picture of OTICON SUMO DM Oticon Sumo DM is a programmable, behind the ear hearing aid designed for use by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. This digital hearing aid uses dynamic phase cancellation to prevent feedback related to body movements or dynamic acoustical situations, sending an out-of-phase counter signal at the same frequency. This removes the whistling without decreasing the level of gain or affecting the sound quality. To prevent whistling when the volume is turned up, the instrument sets maximum gain limits in each of its eight channels. The hearing aid's TriState Noise Management system uses VoiceFinder to distinguish between the three environmental states of noise only, voice only, and noise and voice together, and responds to them with an eight-channel, modulation-based noise reduction system.
