(Verified 08/2012) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Table Top Cassette Tape Recorder/Player is a four-track cassette player and recorder designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This unit plays and records both commercial two-track, 1 7/8 inches per second (ips) cassettes or four-track, 15/16 ips Talking Book cassettes. Playback is through a built-in mono speaker or optional stereo headphones. The player has variable speed playback with digital pitch control that allows the user to adjust the pitch while increasing playback speed. The unit has a built-in condenser microphone with automatic level control. Tapes can be recorded with tone indexing or voice indexing. While listening to (monitoring) a recording in progress, the user can change the volume of the monitor sound without affecting the recording. Other features include a tape motion sensing window; a low battery alarm in record mode; tactile symbols for all controls; anti-skid rubber feet; and a case made of break-resistant plastic. The unit comes with instructions on cassette and in print, a braille start-up sheet, and service information in braille and print. Model 1-07150-00is a US model; model 1-07150-01 is a U.K. model; and model 1-07150-02 is a European model. OPTIONS: Carrying case with shoulder strap (model 1-07010-00); stereo headphones with large earpad (model 1-07088-00); stereo headphones with small foam earpads (model 1-18986-00); replacement rechargeable battery; and a replacement instructional cassette. POWER: Uses built-in alternating current (AC) power cord or built-in, user-replaceable rechargeable battery. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 3 x 11 1/8 x 9 3/8 inches. WEIGHT: Approximately 4.25 pounds. WARRANTY: One-year limited warranty. A 2-year extension is available and covers the machine only, accessories and the rechargeable battery are not included . The extension must be purchased within 90 days of ordering the machine.
