ISO 9999 - Class and subclasses

06   ORTHOSES AND PROSTHESES

Click on a subclass to see the divisions that fall under that subclass.

06 03 Spinal and cranial orthoses

Orthoses are designed to modify the structural and functional characteristics of the neuromuscular and skeletal systems of the spine and skull.
The device may be custom fabricated to meet the functional needs of the individual user or prefabricated to meet a particular set of functional requirements.
The prefabricated devices may be adjustable to fit an individual user, or they may be ready to use so that adjustment is not possible or no adjustment is necessary for any user.

06 04 Abdominal orthoses

Orthoses that encompass the whole or part of the abdomen.

06 06 Upper limb orthoses

Orthoses that are designed to modify the structural and functional characteristics of the neuromuscular and skeletal systems of the upper limbs.
The device may be custom fabricated to meet the functional needs of the individual user or prefabricated to meet a particular set of functional requirements.
The prefabricated devices may be adjustable to fit an individual user, or they may be ready to use so that adjustment is not possible or no adjustment is necessary for any user.

06 12 Lower limb orthoses

Orthoses designed to modify the structural and functional characteristics of the neuromuscular and skeletal systems of the lower limbs.
The device may be custom fabricated to meet the functional needs of the individual user or prefabricated to meet a particular set of functional requirements.
The prefabricated devices may be adjustable to fit an individual user, or they may be ready to use so that adjustment is not possible or no adjustment is necessary for any user.

06 15 Functional neuromuscular stimulators and hybrid orthoses

Devices designed to compensate for a loss of motor function by electrical stimulation; formerly known as FES.
Included are, e.g., functional electrical stimulators and hybrid orthotic systems used in combination with mechanical orthoses in hybrid orthotic systems.
Stimulators, see 04 27 00.

06 18 Upper limb prostheses

A collection of compatible components, usually produced by a single manufacturer, which may be integrated with any individually manufactured component to produce a range of different upper limb prostheses.
Included are, e.g., cosmetic upper limb prostheses.

06 24 Lower limb prostheses

A collection of compatible components, usually produced by a single manufacturer, which may be integrated with any individually manufactured component to produce a range of different lower limb prostheses.
Included are, e.g., cosmetic lower limb prostheses.

06 30 Prostheses other than limb prostheses

Devices used to replace, totally or in part, the appearance and function of an absent body segment other than limbs.

06 33 Orthopedic footwear

Footwear intended to treat or compensate for the impaired body functions or body structures of a person's leg, ankle and feet.
Foot orthoses, see 06 12 03.
Shoes and boots, see 09 03 42.
Personal protective equipment for the workplace, see 28 24 03.

06 89 Accessories for orthoses and prostheses

Products used in conjunction with an orthosis or prosthesis intended to improve the fit or performance of the orthosis or prosthesis.
