It has a six-key braille keyboard, spacebar, and return carriage. The machine is designed to provide light and firm stroke action of the keys. It has margin settins and adjustments and line spacing. An optional carrying case for the typewriter is also available.

  1. DATAARM

    --- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 08/2007) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The DataArm is an arm support designed for use while keyboarding or typing, precision component assembly, or other vocational and communication applications. The support aids in reducing up to 90 percent of neck and shoulder muscle activity required to maintain a static arm position during keyboarding or other manual activities. It puts the wrist in a neutral position, eliminates direct pressure on the transverse ligament on the underside of the wrist to end compression of the carpal tunnel, and allows the shoulder (trapezius) muscles to be relaxed while the static arm position required for keying is maintained. The device maintains a neutral wrist position during horizontal movement across the keyboard. Hands and arms "float" across the keyboard without ulnar deviation. The support can be adjusted vertically for tasks at or above the work level, and can be set to move with the user's arm movements or locked. This forearm support can be screw clamped to any work surface .75 to 2.5 inches thick.

This 1000-watt oven provides spoken confirmation of all functions and cooking times when selected. The time remaining is available at the press of a button at any stage during the cooking cycle. Spoken confirmation is provided when cooking or defrosting is complete. Operation may be programmed by selecting cook or defrost and the type of food and its weight. This oven also has a tactile keypad with easily-felt keys. Speech volume is adjustable. The voice is male. A talking kitchen timer and talking clock are independent of the oven. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 11 x 12 x 20 inches.

  3. PARROT PLUS FULL VOICE ORGANISER

    --- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 1/2003) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Parrot Plus Full Voice Organiser is a voice input and voice output electronic organizer designed for individuals who are blind or have low vision. This organizer features a telephone directory, a voice note pad, a meeting planner, a clock, a calculator, an international telephone assistance feature, and a control panel. The control panel enables customization of the device with a choice of six languages (English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, and Chinese), a choice of how many phone numbers are to be associated with a single name, and adjustable volume and speed of telephone numbers dialed. The telephone directory function enables the user to speak a person's name to locate his or her telephone numbers; the unit then speaks the telephone number. The unit also functions as a dialer. The directory permits storage of up to six telephone numbers and an address for each person and has a capacity of approximately 1,500 entries. The voice notepad offers full digital dictaphone functions, with 6 minutes, 25 seconds of recording time in high quality mode and 13 minutes in normal mode. This feature offers continuous recording without pressing on the click button, fast forward, rewind, pause, insert, and replace. The meeting planner permits recording and checking of meetings. The purpose and place can be dictated and the time and date are keyed in. The time and date are spoken and the unit can page the user. Meetings can be located using a keyword. The clock feature offers all the functions of a musical alarm clock, talking clock and alarm, and the date and time in U.S. and European formats. The calculator is a five-function talking calculator. The telephone assistance feature provides international dialing capability that automatically converts phone numbers to the format of the country in which the user is located. POWER: Uses four triple-A batteries (included). OPTIONS: Computer interface for data downloading and a leather carrying case. DIMENSIONS: 5.3 x 2.7 x 0.6 inches. WEIGHT: 5.25 ounces.   4. REIZEN LOW VISION FLOOR LAMP

RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Reizen Low Vision Floor Lamp is a low vision light designed for use by persons with low vision and upper extremity disabilities. This lamp has a flexible arm that allows the user to focus the light from its 100-watt bulb in order to reduce glare and is turned on and off with a palm switch, which is easier for persons with arthritis and other upper extremity disabilities to use. The lamp also features a double-ventilated cool shade.

    --- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 06/2012) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. ---The Select 17 is a desktop video magnifier designed for use by individuals with low vision. It features a color autofocus camera; an adjustable flat panel, backlit monitor; audible feedback; an XY table with ball bearing movement and automatic lock; and illumination from light emitting diodes (LED). The Select 17’s camera can be positioned for distance and side viewing, straight down for reading documents or aimed back at the user as a mirror image. It magnifies images between 2 and 65 times their original size with a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050. At the bottom of the screen, there are large buttons that control zoom, viewing mode and brightness. Viewing modes include color, black and white, reverse image, and high contrast. The screen is height adjustable. The XY tray opens upward to reveal a storage compartment. OPTIONS: Available with the Effects Package (EP) that includes window shading, line markers and color pallets. POWER: Uses 100-240 volt AC; 50-60 hertz. DIMENSIONS (DxW): 19 x 18 inches. The maximum height when extended is 25 inches. Monitor is 17 inches diagonal. The transportation carton measures (HxLxW) 22 x 24 x 24 inches. WEIGHT: 39 pounds. WARRANTY: 2-year limited warranty.

  6. TWIN LUX (MODELS 910 & 911)

    --- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 3/2011) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Twin Lux, model 910, is a dual lens stand magnifier with illumination. This magnifier has inclined viewing for facilitated reading. The bottom lens adjusts or can be removed for different magnification. The top lens magnifies 3 times original size; the bottom lens magnifies 2.5 times original size. The Twin Lux can be used with or without external lighting. An AC adapter for lighting is included. The Twin Lux model 911 is the same as model 910, except that it does not include built-in lighting.

  7. TYPE & TALK

(Verified 07/2009) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- Type & Talk is a voice output word processor designed for use by individuals with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. This self-contained word processor application package offers speech feedback as the typing progresses in a choice of letter by letter, word by word, sentence by sentence, paragraph by paragraph, or by highlighted text block. Word by word speaking of highlighted text helps the user associate the written word with their sound. This software will read any onscreen text, including menu icons, Internet web pages, e-mail, and spreadsheets. Standard features include a voice-output spell checker with spelled-alike and sound-alike suggestions, a voice-output thesaurus linked to the spell checker, word prediction, abbreviation expansion, automatic correction, and homophone discrimination. Second language capabilities are available when working in Spanish. The software also offers screen magnification of text, tool bars, and help files and text and background colors can be changed to meet the user's needs. Specialized dictionaries for primary school, medicine, and geology are available. Speech fonts include U.S. male and female, United Kingdom male and female, Spanish male, French male, and others. An optional choice of four animated characters to provide speech feedback is also included. COMPATIBILITY: For use on Macintosh computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: MacPower PC, System 7.5 or higher, .Apple Speech Manager, 20 megabytes (MB) hard drive space, and 16 MB RAM.

FRAME (LxW): 47 x 24 inches. The turning radius is 41 inches and the ground clearance is 4 inches. Rear anti-tips are ncluded. The frame disassembles into seven pieces. Body colors are candy apple red or viper blue. RWD: Rear wheel drive with a sealed transaxle drive train with a 24-volt direct current (DC) motor. SEAT (LxW): 16 x 18 inches. The seat to ground height is 21.5 to 23.5 inches. The scooter is equipped with a foldable molded plastic seat. The back height is 13 inches. UPHOLSTERY: Gray or black vinyl or gray fabric. BRAKES: Dual braking system with electronic, regenerative disc brakes. WHEELS: 3.5 x 10 inch front and rear pneumatic tires. POWER: Uses two deep cycle AGM or gel cell batteries, size U1. The scooter includes an on-board battery charger. SPEEDS: 5 miles per hour. CAPACITY: 350 pounds. WEIGHT: 159.5 pounds with batteries and 110.5 pounds without batteries. It has large keys and a large display to enable users with low vision to do scientific, statistical, and trigonometric calculations. The calculator performs all basic scientific and mathematical functions. Its keys can also be custom labeled for added tactile reference and reinforcement. The display is a high contrast eight digit liquid crystal display (LCD). The keypad is simplified and uncluttered and the keys have high contrast print. Operations keys are color differentiated. Keys require positive activation, eliminating faulty entries by users with diminished manipulation skills. Power turns off automatically when the calculator is left unattended. This large print calculator comes with a spiral-bound, flat opening large print owner's manual printed in a 16 point font. POWER: Uses battery (included) with a battery life of approximately 5,000 hours. OPTIONS: Keyguard to aid keypad targeting and control. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): Overall dimensions are 1.5 x 6.2 x 9 inches. Display numerals are 0.9 inches high x 0.6 inches wide. Keys are 0.7 inches square. WEIGHT: 14 ounces. COLOR: Keys are black or blue with white or yellow print.

(Verified 10/2012) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Vocally Freedom Voice Activated Dialer is a voice-activated telephone dialer designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision, severe physical disabilities, or spinal cord injury. This hardware accessory connects to a telephone and phone line. For up to 60 names entered into its directory, it dials the number when the name of the person to be called is spoken. When the handset is picked up, the unit automatically asks for a name to call, but allows the user to dial manually by saying nothing at the prompt or pressing one of the phone keys to get a dial tone. DIMENSIONS: 2.5 x 5 x 1 inch.
