Thin and Sleek: A review of Two Flat-Panel Desktop CCTVs
By Farrenkopf, Carol; Access World, Vol. 6, No. 2Publication Date: March 2005
Article reviews two flat-panel desktop closed circuit televisions (CCTV): (1) the Eclipse from Ash Technologies, and (2) the ClearView Flex from the Tiemen Group. The devices are evaluated in terms of five features: (1) physical description, (2) documentation, (3) setup, (4) ease of use, and (5) possible improvements. The eclipse is functional, yet lacks proper stabilization, while there is no height-adjustable feature. The ClearView Flex also has these features, but it was found to be slightly heavy, as it was designed as a more cumbersome two-piece unit. The author contends that both devices are a good first try by both companies, yet neither has the design and functional capabilities needed to equal the best possible flat-panel CCTV. The ClearView Flex is the choice of the two in regards to function, yet the look and the size of the Eclipse make it the more appealing device. The author concludes that both companies should reconsider their current designs.
