Article discusses News-4-You, which is an Internet newspaper services designed exclusively for special education classrooms. The service utilizes symbol-supported text to provide information about current events, which the author contends can serve to motivate students by sparking a vested interest in the world around them. This can help to promote literacy learning, as well as a broader student knowledge base. Teachers have reported that News-4-You provides a valuable core of weekly lesson plans, which allows them to spend more time on creating lesson plans to meet the unique needs of individual students.
