« Previous Product Next Product »Smart Speech for REACH Interface Author is a word prediction program and a communicator program designed for use by individuals with learning, fine motor, speech or severe physical disabilities. This program is an add-on for the REACH Interface Author (see separate entry). Smart Speech build sentences by leveraging the use of Smart Lists (see separate entry) technology. With each click, the user is offered a Smart List menu containing probable words and grammatical categories, both based on what has been typed in the sentence so far. When the user selects a grammatical category, Smart Speech provides subcategories for words in that category. For example, if the user selects "Nouns" category, he or she is presented with 24 categories of nouns to select. When a subcategory is selected, the user is provided with an on-screen keyboard containing items in the subcategory. Smart Speech also can be used to type directly into any open application so it also can be used as a writing tool, for composing sentences in documents, spreadsheets, emails, or Internet applications. In addition, the keys on the keyboard can be used to "speak the current sentence," or "speak the current thought" (a "thought" is a paragraph containing one or more sentences), create new thoughts, move up and down the thoughts in a document or clear thoughts.
