1. A BASIC COURSE IN AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE VOCABULARY

   A Basic Course in American Sign Language Vocabulary is a sign language training program designed for use by individuals with hearing disabilities and others desiring to learn American Sign Language. This program offers 22 lessons and includes a text and a videotape with four deaf and native signers modeling each letter, number, and vocabulary word included in the lessons. The video includes both audio narration and captioning.

2. AB900 AMPLIFIED ANSWERING MACHINE

   The AB900 Amplified Answering Machine is a hearing aid compatible amplified answering machine designed for use by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Messages can be amplified as much as 40 decibels (dB) in volume, and played back at slower speeds to increase intelligibility. The controls feature a one-touch play and pause button, rotary controls for frequency tone and play back speed, and buttons to skip and repeat messages. The unit has 24 minutes of digital recording with flash memory.     ASL Tales and Games for Kids 1: Woof Woof Way is an American Sign Language (ASL) training program designed for use by children who are deaf or hard of hearing. This is the first in a CD-ROM series with stories that happen in the neighborhood of Paws, the signing dog. Each piece of software in the series contains three stories and 10 games. In addition to Paws, there is a central group of characters (neighborhood children), most of whom are deaf, hard of hearing, or multiply disabled, and represent different ethnic groups. Each CD-ROM is named for a street in Pawstown. In each opening menu, the child can click on a building or area of the street to reach a menu for a story that relates to that neighborhood feature (e.g., library, playground, restaurant). The stories use repetition, patterned language, and predictable structure to encourage early reading skills. Some stories are interactive. Viewing options include audio and video clips of signing. The games concentrate on reading decoding, vocabulary building, signing skills, visual memory, visual perception, visual/motor coordination, early concepts such as categorization and matching, computer skills, and math. In addition to stories and games, each CD-ROM in the series includes a dictionary of vocabulary used in the software. Each word in the dictionary is shown in print, with a graphic depicting the concept and a line drawing of the related sign, as well as an option to view a video of the sign. The dictionary pages can be printed. The first CD in the Pawstown series, Woof Woof Way, includes stories about the Pet Store, the Toy Store and the Library, along with ASL stories in the ASL Video Store, and a visit to the Institute for Disabilities Research and Training (IDRT) office. The accompanying games include sequencing story events, completing sentences, designing an animal, identifying an object from its parts, counting money to pay for items in a story, categorizing items, designing a book cover, and spelling words.

Set the control to the frequency that is easiest to hear and hard to hear voices come through loud and clear. There are four models available. All models have the following features: visual ringer light; low-frequency ringer; hearing aid compatible; tone/pulse switch; desk/wall mountable; and increase volume to 25 dB. 86. GENTEX 710CS & 710CSW

    The Gentex 710CS is a photoelectric single station smoke detector for use where audible and visual alarms are required. This model features a 90 decibel (db) solid state piezo signal and a strobe light with red "FIRE" lettering. The 710CS may be placed in a main room with a remote receiver in another room. The strobe on the receiver will flash when the main detector flashes. It utilizes a pulsing LED light source and a photodiode sensor in a fully screened sensing chamber to detect smoke. The high intensity strobe is 120 candela and flashes 60-90 times per minute. The operating voltage is 120 VAC, 60 Hz and the operating current is 0.300 amps. 88. GOOD VIBRATIONS RECEIVER

    Good Vibrations (formerly Silent Call and Personal Alert) is a sound monitor system that alerts individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing to audio stimuli in the household. The user wears a small receiver unit that simultaneously vibrates in response to a signal from any of several transmitted signals. Transmitters are available for detecting: sound (such as a baby's cry), smoke in the house, telephone ringing, doorbell ringing, or a pager (each sold separately). The program demonstrates the American Sign Language (ASL) sign for a selected word in full-motion video and it provides the user with the option of watching the video once or repeatedly. This twelve hour analog clock has a buzzer alarm, timers, and a built-in socket for use with a bed shaker (not included). The timer can be set to start and stop electrical equipment and appliances. The buzzer is set by moving a series of small pins around the face. Any combination of quarter hour periods may be set.      Keep Quiet Reword is a sign language training game designed for use by individuals with hearing disabilities. Players ages seven through adult use the 60 plastic-coated cards, which show the hand positions for the sign language alphabet on one side and alphabet letters on the other, to create words of four or five letters. This game is playable five different ways and can involve from one to six players.

104. KNOCK SENSOR (Models KTS1, 3240-L, & 3240-T)

     The Knock Sensor is a flashing light signal designed to indicate door knocking for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The system attaches to the door with Velcro or with a door bracket (model KTS1) and is sensitive to vibrations. It signals when someone is knocking on the door by flashing a light that shuts off automatically after five seconds.      The Large Area Infrared System is an amplification system designed to provide hearing assistance, speech assistance, and mobility aid hearing assistance for individuals who are hard of hearing. The NL 100 fits around the user’s neck and connects to the telephone handset. The volume can be amplified up to 26 decibels (dB). 123. OMNI PAGE & OMNI PAGE II

     The Omni page and the Omni Page II are paging systems designed for person-to-person or device-to-person communication for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. It allows an individual to communicate with another individual or to be alerted to a signal from an electronic device, such as a smoke detector, telephone, sound monitor, or doorbell. The system is comprised of three units: a receiver, a transmitter, and a charger. The wireless receiver unit attaches easily to a belt or pocket and sends an audible sound or vibration to summon the wearer when a transmitter is activated. The receiver is notified of a "page" from one of the optional transmitters sent by another person, either a pendant pager transmitter, body activated switch, or a hand-held pager transmitter. The system is completely wireless and able to monitor signals up to 100 feet away. The receiver and the transmitters are sold separately. The Omni Page II is designed for use in the commercial/industrial setting. In this case the receiver unit can be programmed to accept up to ten different coded messages. The message pad, mounted at the service station, is used by the manager to relat a job command to the person wearing the receiver unit. The transmitter can transmit and the receiver can receive on a total of 57 synthesized channels (19 high fidelity channels and 38 standard channels) in the 216-217 megahertz (MHz) Low Power Radio Service (LPRS) band.
