    The HearMore ADA Compliance Kit combines all the products required for hotels or hospitals to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.   19. ASL TALES AND GAMES FOR KIDS 1: WOOF WOOF WAY

    ASL Tales and Games for Kids 1: Woof Woof Way is an American Sign Language (ASL) training program designed for use by children who are deaf or hard of hearing. This is the first in a CD-ROM series with stories that happen in the neighborhood of Paws, the signing dog. Each piece of software in the series contains three stories and 10 games. In addition to Paws, there is a central group of characters (neighborhood children), most of whom are deaf, hard of hearing, or multiply disabled, and represent different ethnic groups. Each CD-ROM is named for a street in Pawstown. In each opening menu, the child can click on a building or area of the street to reach a menu for a story that relates to that neighborhood feature (e.g., library, playground, restaurant). The stories use repetition, patterned language, and predictable structure to encourage early reading skills. Some stories are interactive. Viewing options include audio and video clips of signing. The games concentrate on reading decoding, vocabulary building, signing skills, visual memory, visual perception, visual/motor coordination, early concepts such as categorization and matching, computer skills, and math. In addition to stories and games, each CD-ROM in the series includes a dictionary of vocabulary used in the software. Each word in the dictionary is shown in print, with a graphic depicting the concept and a line drawing of the related sign, as well as an option to view a video of the sign. The dictionary pages can be printed. The first CD in the Pawstown series, Woof Woof Way, includes stories about the Pet Store, the Toy Store and the Library, along with ASL stories in the ASL Video Store, and a visit to the Institute for Disabilities Research and Training (IDRT) office. The accompanying games include sequencing story events, completing sentences, designing an animal, identifying an object from its parts, counting money to pay for items in a story, categorizing items, designing a book cover, and spelling words.

    The Clarity Telephone is an amplifier telephone designed with adjustable frequency range for individuals with high frequency hearing loss. Set the control to the frequency that is easiest to hear and hard to hear voices come through loud and clear. There are four models available. All models have the following features: visual ringer light; low-frequency ringer; hearing aid compatible; tone/pulse switch; desk/wall mountable; and increase volume to 25 dB. Model 1000 is the home version with mute, redial and one touch memory buttons. The Basic, model 2000 has no advanced options.     FM transmitter relays sound from a central sound system directly to the hearing impaired. User wears personal receiver connected to hearing aid or earphones.   204. TTY SCREENER II

    The TTY Screener II is a TDD monitoring system designed to eliminate voice calls and allow only incoming TTY calls for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The TTY screener detects the first ring when a call comes in and responds to the caller in a TTY message. If there is no response to the message after four seconds, the unit sends a voice message explaining to the hearing caller how to make contact with the voice relay.   212. VIBRA-CALL SYSTEM

    Vibra-Call is a telephone and doorbell signal system designed to alert deaf or deaf-blind persons to a variety of audio household stimuli. The user wears a small receiver unit that vibrates in response to a signal from any of several transmitters around the house or workplace. The user then presses each of the four push-button switches on the top panel of the receiver; this causes the receiver to revibrate to indicate which transmitter was activated. The system can be used with one receiver and as many transmitters as desired. OPTIONS: Components may also be purchased separately, including a smoke detector, a doorbell transmitter, a telephone transmitter, a rechargeable sound monitor, a pager transmitter for signalling between persons, and a pillow vibrator. The system features a volume control switch and operates at a maximum distance of 65 feet between the transmitter and receiver.   229. WIRELESS MICROPHONE TRANSMITTER & RECEIVER (MODELS M-216 & PR-216)

    The Wireless Microphone Transmitter and Receiver, models M-216 and PR-216, is a wireless microphone transmitter and receiver for an FM amplification system, designed for use by individuals who are hard of hearing. The transmitter can transmit and the receiver can receive on a total of 57 synthesized channels (19 high fidelity channels and 38 standard channels) in the 216-217 megahertz (MHz) Low Power Radio Service (LPRS) band. The operating range is 200 feet. The transmitter's microcontroller automatically sets the modulation deviation, companding or non-companding audio processing, and the EQ when corresponding channels are selected. The receiver has channel-selectability for crowded radio frequency environments. In addition to being compatible with the M-216 personal transmitter, the receiver is compatible with the BST-25/216 Base Station Transmitter (see separate entry).
