Picture of ZOOM-TWIX The Zoom-Twix is a video magnifier and optical character recognition (OCR) device designed for use by individuals with low vision. This system combines a digital scanner and OCR with a zoomable long distance camera to capture and magnify what's on a blackboard or whiteboard or on a desk, all controlled from a laptop computer keyboard. The foldable stand holds two autofocus cameras, while the edges of the stand and its anodized aluminum support legs act as an alignment guide for material to be scanned. The system enables the user to view and save the magnified image of a blackboard and write under magnification. A motion detector can scan an entire book at 20 pages per minute as the user turns the pages. The system can convert any printed text into multiple accessible formats such as speech, large print, audio file, or text files. Magnified text is wrapped within the screen. The system includes voice indicators and instructions. The Zoom-Twix folds down like a tripod to travel in a laptop bag. COMPATIBILITY: For use with an IBM compatible personal computer. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows XP, Vista (32 or 64 bit), or Windows 7 operating system; 2 gigahertz (GHz) Pentium or equivalent AMD processor; 1 GB RAM memory; 1 GB free space on hard drive; two USB 2.0 ports.
