Picture of DUET, THE The Duet is a wheelchair tandem cycle designed to provide recreational transportation for two: a wheelchair user or rider with partial or severe physical disabilities, cognitive or visual disabilities, or a pediatric or geriatric passenger, and a non-disabled cyclist. The engineering of the cycle allows passengers from 20 to 275 pounds to fit comfortably by simple adjustments or by using a combination of matching upholstery accessories, seat cushions, and supports. Larger passengers are as easy to pedal as smaller ones. The cycle has three wheels, one in the back and two in the front when the passenger's wheeled seat is attached. The passenger seat can be disconnected to serve as a short-term wheelchair. CYCLE UNIT: The cycle frame is made of electro-powder coated steel available in red, white, or blue. The cycle unit is 51 x 14 x 38 to 39 inches (LxWxH). Standard features include 26-inch mountain bike tires, 5 or 7 gears, wheel spoke reflectors, luggage rack, wheel air pump, tools and puncture repair kit, and enclosed braking system. WHEELCHAIR UNIT: The passenger seat shell, headrest and footrest are made of glass-fiber reinforced plastic. The seat is made of cast aluminum and aluminum tubing. The seat is 18 inches wide, adjustable with cushions. Standard features include a folding footrest with rake and height adjustment; adjustable headrest, lap belt safety harness and shoulder strap safety harness; shatterproof transparent spoke covers; and removable seat and headrest cushioning. The seat shell is available in turquoise or yellow. OPTIONS: Polyamide or chrome-coated pushrims, raised armrests, an adjustable footrest for small children, rain covers, a thigh harness, a cycle computer with digital display, and a 1 horsepower rear wheel motor. DIMENSIONS: The combined cycle and wheelchair unit is 105 inches long with the footrest, 85 inches without. WEIGHT: The wheelchair unit is 60 pounds; the cycle unit is 27 pounds.
