By Sasser, Shan; CSUN Technology and Persons With Disabilities Conference - 2002,
Publication Date: 2002

Paper discusses Project Purpose and Intent, which is a distance-learning project created by the Iowa Department for the Blind to provide instruction on Microsoft Office software to people with visual disabilities, and to prepare students for the Microsoft Office User Specialist examination. The program also features instruction for rehabilitation professionals who provide computer training for people with visual disabilities. The author contends that the participants’ certification in standard software will greatly increase their ability to find employment in the field of information technology.
