Assistive Technology Resource on the Family Center Website

By Van Geem, Patrick; See/Hear, Vol. 11, No. 3, pp. 18-19
Publication Date: Summer 2006

Article focuses on the services available from the Family Center on Technology and Disability, which includes their database of abstracts regarding assistive technology resources for students with disabilities. The website was created in early 2005 via a grant from the United States Department of Education to the Office of Special Education Programs. The Family Center on Technology and Disability has gathered resources from books, articles, workshop handouts, video clips, and other websites. This information is then abstracted and then placed in the website’s searchable database. More than 600 abstracts from a network of 1,900 national organizations are included. The Family Center on Technology and Disability can be accessed online at http://www.fctd.info.
