Extending the Functional Day for Powered Wheelchair Based Technologies

This paper discusses the design and development of the Bloorview Battery Adaptor, a switching supply intended to extend the functional life of wheelchair batteries when they are also used to power laptop computers, augmentative communication devices, and other features or equipment. Included are a discussion of the unit's functions and features, an examination of its use in practical settings, and a diagram of the adaptor and its connections.
