User Needs and Usage Analysis in a Smart Environment for People Requiring Assistance

By Mokhtari, Mountir, PhD; Feki, Mohamed Ali, PhD; Topics in Geriatric Rehabilitation, Vol. 23, No. 1, pp. 52-59
Publication Date: January-March 2007

Article focuses on research conducted by several projects supported by the European Commission on smart home technology designed for older adults and people with disabilities. The authors focus on a user-centered approach, which they believe can help them to develop a more complete understanding of the type of support that people with disabilities need in their daily lives. Research has indicated that combining technological aids and mobile technologies can help to facilitate independent living for people with disabilities in the home and in temporary living environments.
