Edmark Functional Word Series - Signs Around You is a safety awareness and language tutorial and vocabulary enhancement software program designed to teach individuals with cognitive disabilities to recognize and read 100 common safety and informational signs. It teaches functional vocabulary necessary for independent living. This program teaches phrases such as "Do Not Enter," "No Smoking," "Taxi," and "Poison" and includes a teacher's guide and 300 reproducible worksheets. Students learn new sight words, practice sight recognition, reinforce that recognition and associate the word with its meaning through illustrations. Each vocabulary word is presented in a variety of formats: upper case, upper and lower case, and all lower case. The program includes 100 word recognition lessons, 100 word cards, 100 photo cards, 300 reproducible worksheets, 5 storybooks containing 50 stories, reading and social skills games, and a teacher's guide. All print materials are included on a CD-ROM for reprinting.
