------- "DO IT YOURSELF" ENTRY ------- PURPOSE: Device was designed so that an upper extremity amputee with lower extremity involvement could become independent in transfers and ambulation both on level surfaces and stairs. Describes materials used to modify crutches, including two 12 inch by 20 inch Orthoplast sheets, heat gun or hairdryer, 4 inch stockinette, aluminum crutches, scissors and brush.
