(Verified 01/2013) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. ---Tactile Graphics Designer Pro (TGD Pro) is a braille graphics program designed to produce braille or tactile graphics for individuals who are blind or have low vision. TGD Pro is a product combining two programs, QikTac (see separate entry) and TraceME. TraceME is a drawing program specifically designed for freehand sketching, tracing, and/or transforming of color photographs, line drawings, clip art, or scanned images into a tactile form for output to a braille printer or to braille graphics paper (capsule paper). TGD Pro is available with or without a TagPad (see separate entry), but use of a TagPad makes it possible to trace any diagram directly from the TagPad into QikTac or TraceMe. Scanned images may also be used but they often require a great deal of editing. With the combination of QikTac and TraceME, it is possible to transform pictures from a 'photorealistic' form (a photograph, painting or other line drawing) into a dot based braille graphics image. TraceME also includes a low vision mode. Over 200 graphics files are included in SIG (TGD files for embossing), BMP, JPG, and GIF formats. TGP Pro operates in Swedish, Spanish, English, Norwegian, Malay and Brazilian/Portuguese. German is available in a beta version. The manual is available in English only.
