(Verified 4/2013) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Augmentative Communication Software Library, or ACSL, is a comprehensive collection of software for IBM-compatible computers that provides a wide range of augmentative communication and computer access capabilities. This system was designed as a cost-effective package for clinics, hospitals, and schools. ACSL includes programs for use by persons with all levels of language and motor skills. STRATEGIES: those available include auditory scanning, pictographic symbol selection, abbreviation expansion (with letters or pictures), word prediction, automatic grammatical rules, and full word processing. All strategies have choice of scanning, encoding, and direct selection. INPUT DEVICES COVERED: The software included in ACSL includes programs designed for standard keyboard, expanded keyboard, mini keyboard, optical pointer, mouse, track ball, joystick, single switch, and multiple switch inputs. The only method NOT covered is the eye gaze. Please note: input devices and voice synthesizers are NOT included with ACSL, but are available individually or as part of the ACTS (Augmentative Communication Training System), also by Words+ (see separate entry). PROGRAMS INCLUDED: AudScan II, Equalizer (Single Switch, Two Switch, Arrow Key and Mouse versions), Expanded Keyboard Emulator, E Z Com, E Z Keys, E Z Talker, KeyWiz, MathTool, Morse Code Keyboard Emulator and Equalizer, MorseTyper, MultiScan, Reader, RotoScan, Scanning Keyboard Emulator, Talking Board, Talking Screen. (See separate entries on these programs for more details.) HARDWARE INCLUDED: Words+ Switch Adapter, Words+ Expanded Keyboard Interface. WARRANTY: Software is warranted for life; there is no charge for updates to the software packages purchased but a nominal mailing fee may be charged. Hardware is warranted to be free from manufacturing defects for one year from purchase date, including all parts and labor required to return defective products to serviceable condition.
Notes: By buying the ACSL package, with all of its programs and two hardware adapters, the purchase price ends up being less than half the price of buying all of the separate programs individually.
