(Verified 4/2000) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- ESL Tutor is a language tutorial program developed to assist deaf individuals whose primary language is American Sign Language (ASL) to learn English, but designed to help any student who is having problems with English as a Second Language (ESL). The program has also been used with special education teachers at the college level. There are three components to the program. The first is Vocabulary Enrichment which contains more than 2200 vocabulary words, including idioms. The program is contained on 10 diskettes and includes more than 400 pages of reproducible material representing more than 140 hours of instruction. The second program component is Parts of Speech. This covers English words that have more than one meaning. The full program contains 73 multiple meaning words with a total of 255 separate meanings. The third program is Grammar in Action, with 530 essay lessons which focus on common grammatical errors, especially for people whose primary language is ASL. The essays focus on articles, verb tense, word choice, and suffixes. In all, the programs provide vocabulary training, proofreading training, and sentence construction exercises. The program components are available separately ($230 to 420) or as a set ($1350) on 3.5 or 5.25-inch diskettes. COMPATIBILITY: For use on DOS-based (PC) or Macintosh computer systems.
