Picture of WEB CHASE (MODEL 1-08460-00) Web Chase, model 1-08460-00, is a tactile board game designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This game develops important tactile skills in a fun, recreational context. In the game, children play as spiders trying to capture insects in a web. When the last insect on the game board has been captured, the spider having the greatest number of prey or value of prey in its lunch tray is the "Master of the Web." As players navigate their hungry spiders through an insect-laden web, they learn to trace various raised lines that make up the web; identify point symbols on the spider tokens; and discriminate the textures and shapes of various prey. Other concepts and skills developed include visual and tactual scanning, directionality, one-to-one correspondence, turn taking, counting, reading, sorting/organizing, problem solving, strategic planning, interpreting legends/keys, symbolic understanding, and following directions. The game includes a glow-in-the-dark game board, three-dimensional spider tokens, basic shape prey, textured shape prey, advantage and obstacle cards, lunch trays for captured insects, card holder, and tactile dice.
