The Augmentative Communication Training System, or ACTS, is a comprehensive training system consisting of the Augmentative Communication Software Library, ACLS (see separate entry), and all of the hardware necessary to run these programs. The system was designed to provide training to potential augmentative communication users and students of augmentative communication with every access method and communication strategy in use at the time of its release. HARDWARE INCLUDED: IBM-compatible computer with hard disk and color monitor, dot matrix printer, Votrax Personal Speech System voice synthesizer, Words+/Trace Long Range Optical Pointer, Words+ Switch Adapter, Words+ Infrared/Sound/Touch Switch, Words+ Eyebrow Switch, Words+ Standard Microswitch, Words+ Expanded Keyboard Interface, expanded keyboard, joystick, mouse, track ball, and 6-outlet power strip. SOFTWARE: All software included in ACLS. Words+ programs are menu-driven systems with on-line help and can be switched from one user's setup to another's easily. WARRANTY: Hardware warranted to be free of manufacturing defects for one year from date of purchase, including all parts and labor required to return defective products to serviceable condition. Software warranted for life; there is no charge for updates to the software packages purchased, but a nominal mailing fee may be charged.
