Lace-amatic is a shoe lacing aid designed for use by teenagers and adults with fine motor or upper extremity disabilities or limited dexterity. This device tightens and knots prepared shoes with a push of one finger, thumb, or the heel of a hand. It can also undo those same laced shoes for easy removal, hands free, with a deliberate nudge of either foot against a release lever. It minimizes lacing friction and is coupled with a built in lever and cam system so that it requires very little strength to operate. When activated, it provides a pre-chosen level of lace tension and knotting for custom fitting. When deactivated, it leaves the shoes loose enough to step in or out of. It is made of a clear durable polycarbonate that floats descreetly in the shoelaces. It is used with conventional non-stretching laces for the most supportive fitting. WEIGHT: 11 grams per shoe. COLOR: clear polycarbonate plastic.
