Automatic scanning requires the user to activate a switch only twice. Directed scan is done by the user stepping the lights across each row with repeated switch closures. Selection of square is done by stopping the stepping process of the directed scan or by stopping the automatic movement of the light with the second switch closure in the automatic scanning mode.
